Why IoT-enabled ERPs are the future of manufacturing [Video]

Hello and welcome to the Accent Software video blog.

Internet of things technology is everywhere, including the shop floor. Forward-thinking manufacturers are using industrial-grade connected devices to optimize their production processes. However, these assets do not function in isolation. Many backend systems offer support  – most notably, IoT-enabled E-R-P platforms. And together, these I-o-T-E-R-P connections constitute the future of manufacturing.

Operational teams observed friction between E-R-P software and connected shop floor hardware during the early stages of the I-o-T era early two-thousand-tens. That has since changed. Now, manufacturing firms are moving forward with data-driven production workflows that center on the relationship between these two pieces of infrastructure. It works like this: I-o-T assets collect data, which is then made available for distribution by the E-R-P. The connected tools enrich the E-R-P as it transforms the raw insights these items gather into actionable information.

This integrated process will define the shop floor of the future. With this in mind, manufacturers implementing E-R-Ps would be wise to pinpoint solutions that support I-o-T technology.
